Well, I had my last appointment with my nutritionist today. I know I lost more weight, but I don't really pay attention to the numbers they give me there. I'll know on Wednesday what my overall weight loss is for this six-week period, and I'll keep you posted, of course!
Prior to this visit, I had gone through the recipes of the two South Beach books I had read and put together a rather tasty 30-day meal plan, complete with all three meals and two snacks a day. The way I am, I probably will make a meal, eat on the leftovers until they're gone and make another meal, but it's good to have a full 30-day plan in case I need it. At any rate, it feels GREAT to have dairy again, and cheese, and modest amounts of whole-grains, and not to have to weigh every little thing. I feel like I'm in heaven. My daughter joked that maybe she should go on the diet if it would get her as excited about the prospect of eating a salad like I was. (With the injections, I wasn't allowed to mix vegetables to get me to my 1 cup, twice a day.)
We also did a little shopping this weekend and bought a NordicTrack x9i Incline Trainer. It's similar to a treadmill but has a maximum 40% incline and a -6% decline, so it will really mimic real-life terrain.
Apparently Nordic Track has been criticized for their incline trainers in the past because of the short walking pad (or whenever they call that conveyor belt thingy that you walk on). I know this not only because of what I read on-line but also because it was the first thing my nutitionist mentioned when I told him what I bought. They fixed it with this model, so, "Ha!"
The incline trainer also has a 10" computer screen on it and is already uploaded with a few choice walking tracks in Hawaii. I can also go on google maps and download any walking track in the world, and the incline and decline will go to work to mimic the trail. I will also have full internet access, so I can listen to any of my tunes on Project Playlist or watch television shows from Zulu. (Is that what it's called? I haven't used it yet myself, but my daughter is very familiar!) My plan is to use this equipment every day when it arrives next week. The x9i will save all my results and help me chart my progress and goals. And, of course, it will be there for John to use, too, should he decide to ramp it up a little.
Good times. Very hopeful for the future. My birthday is on August 26, and I hope to be at my weight-loss goal by then.
Enjoy your day. Enjoy this blog.
