Cleanses give us more energy, improve our immune system, remove toxins from our bodies, and relieve other various symptoms.
The lemon juice cleanse consists of 6 to 12 servings a day. Each serving contains:
Juice from half a lemon (from real lemons)
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/10 tsp cayenne pepper (or less to taste)
8 ounces of water
This protocol can be used for up to ten days, though most get good results with three or four days. It is important to listen to your body while cleansing.
Food isn't consumed during the cleanse. Instead, drink a glass of this mixture whenever you’re hungry. You may also drink all you want of good, clean water. Woo-hoo!
The first day you probably won't see many results, if any. The second and third days you will have to use bathroom a lot. The promise is that you will feel lighter and will have a lot more energy.
Once you stop the cleanse, only eat foods that are easy to digest. Do not eat dairy products, processed sugars or red meats for at least a week afterward. Stick with fruits and vegetables for the first two days. Move on to nuts, fish and eggs.

The drink itself tasted good! The pepper gave it a little bit of a bite and made me thirsty for water, water, water. Also good. But I hit the wall about 1:00 in the afternoon. I don't know if I was fighting something already or not, but I awoke with a headache that just got worse as the day progressed despite multiple attempts to quell it with Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen. I came home and went to bed, not leaving it until this morning.
I had a total of about 32 ounces of this drink. I believe the cleanse was doing its job. I think I'm addicted to caffeine and sugar, and my symptoms yesterday tell me I was going through of withdrawal. I wish I could say I stuck with it, but I'm back at McDonalds this morning! (One extreme to the other, right?) I think I want to see what else I can find as far as cleanses and try it again another time. I'll keep you posted.
