Losing is Gaining

Some people might call me a murderess.  I prefer to think of it as putting them out of their misery.

I had four plants in the house that had been moved around because of the Christmas holiday decorations.  None of them seemed to enjoy their new homes.  Some were looking really droopy, no matter how much or how little I watered them.  (So they probably needed to be re-potted, right?)  Some almost looked burnt or fried.  (So maybe they were too close to the door and were otherwise exposed to air that was too cold?)

Every day I would look at them and think, “I really ought to help these guys out.  In some cases, I’ve had them for years after all.  I bet if I do…  Or I could just…  Or maybe they need…”  Rather than just do it, I found that the thought of figuring out what ailed each one felt overwhelming, impossible even.  It just seemed too much for me.

I (gulp) decided to throw them out.  Throw them out, I said, pots and all.  The poor little things.  But rather than mourn, I felt…lighter…a little more organized…a little more on-track.

This week, I have decided to focus on organizing in an attempt to help me get my life in order.  I’m hoping you can help me, too, with insights you might have on the subject.

If your life is anything like mine, time is at a premium.  So the organizing has to be both time-saving and freeing. I hope some of my ideas, though unconventional, might inspire you up to tackle some of those things you’ve been putting off.

Enjoy this blog.  Enjoy your week.
